The transition to being barefoot is not always a simple one and we do understand why this can be a daunting decision for many owners. Quite often a horse can initially be uncomfortable. We DO NOT leave horses uncomfortable. This is were boots, pads and the experience of our trimmer comes in to ensure this transition period is a comfortable and successful one.
This is also where our whole horse approach is imperative.
Horses, I’m sure you will agree, are pretty awesome creatures! The journey from Hyracotherium to modern equidae has given us a perfect animal just as it is. Why as a species do we feel the need to fix what is not broken. As a team we are all passionate about horses being barefoot. If this is something you are new to then there is lots of information available in our Resources section. However, I feel I need to say that if a horse is not sound barefoot then it is not sound full stop.
In the wild horses would be wearing their feet down naturally over a mixture of terrain. This movement and terrain is something we try to mimic on our multi surfaced track.
